Denice Celley

Artist

About

Denice is a 2-D painter/ artist born in South Carolina, and has lived in North Carolina for almost 7 years now, making her a Carolina girl through and through. She received her Bachelor’s in Studio Art and Psychology from the College of Charleston, SC in 2016. She received her Master’s in Art History and Visual Culture from Richmond, the American University in London, UK in 2022. Her works tends to be theme or series driven, and themes of psychology, art history, and nature play heavily in her approach to art and what inspires her to create. Although her body of work leans more towards abstract expressionism, she is starting to delve further into themes of popular culture, consumerism, and the playfulness of still life.

With an open mind and sense of humor, she continues to explore new mediums and techniques to further her practice.

When she isn’t making art, Denice currently works for the City of Raleigh, NC helping nonprofits with their Art Grants program, as well as working for the North Carolina Museum of Art’s exhibition team.
